Year 1B 2020 - 2021
Hello Year 1.
I am really looking forward to teaching you all this year and I am so thrilled to have you in my class.
This term we will be learning lots of new sounds in phonics so it is very important that you read at least 3 times a week. This is great practise on your road to becoming fluent readers.
We will also be using the new sounds we learn in our writing and really focusing on writing sentences. We will 'think' of our sentence, 'say it', 'write it' and 'read it'. Our writing and english work will be based around the text 'Lost and Found' by Oliver Jeffers.
In maths, we will be looking at numbers to 10, representing them and finding one more and one less.
Our science topic this half term is plants. We will be looking at the different parts of plants, trees and asking 'Are all plants the same?'
Our journey into the past will begin by looking at toys our parents and grandparents used to play with and how they are different and similar to ours today. It would be wonderful if you could ask your grown ups at home about what toys they used to play with!
I'm excited and looking forward to our learning journey together.
Welcome back! Year 1s are busy busy busy!
Please remember to read your book every night and to bring your book bags into school everyday.
Books will be changed on Mondays and Thursdays.
Please keep your P.E kit in school as we have P.E on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Homework will be given out every Friday and must be completed and handed in the following Wednesday.
Finally, please remember to keep being the wonderful, happy, caring children that you all are.
Miss Boyd and Mrs Whitwam
