Year 2D 2019 - 2020
Welcome to Year 2D class page!
Our class teacher is Mrs Davis and our Teaching Assistant is Mrs Drakeley.
We have made a great start to year 2 and we would like to share some of our learning with you.
Our class book this half term is ' The Dragon Machine'. The story is helping us to sequence stories and write using the past tense.
In maths, we have been adding, subtracting and using money. Use the following website to practice some of these skills at home: https://www.topmarks.co.uk/Search.aspx?AgeGroup=2
This half term, we have been investigating animals and their habitats. Soon we will be exploring what animals eat and we will be constucting our own food chains.
We are finding out about the history of our town. If you have any artefacts or information about Widnes in the past, please contact Mrs Davis.
Key information for Year 2.
Reading books must be in school daily with your reading record. All of the children have a reading book, which is appropriate to their reading level - Please sign each time your child has read with you. We have a reading chart in class and children can earn points for home reading. It is expected that the children read at least three times per week and have their reading diaries signed by a parent/guardian.
Homework is given on a Friday and should be returned by the following Wednesday. If it is not returned by Wednesday, children will attend homework club on Wednesday lunchtime to complete it. Your child's class teacher is available on Monday or Tuesday to help any child, who is finding their homework difficult.
Our PE days are currently Wednesday (indoor) and Thursday (outdoor). Please remember that your child's full PE kit must be in school: white t-shirt, red shorts and black school pumps or trainers - joggers or tracksuit trousers and sweat tops may be worn for outdoor PE. Remember not to wear earrings on these days please.
Simms Cross Superstars
Each week one child from 2D is chosen to be a Simms Cross Superstar and receive a postcard in our Friday Celebration Assembly.
Last week's winner was Bobby. Well done Bobby, keep up the good work.
Golden Tie Award
Each week a child will be chosen who has gone 'Above and Beyond' in their learning and behaviour. They will wear a golden tie all week and go home in this tie to share their success with parents. (Please make sure that the tie is returned to the classteacher on a Friday)
This week's winner was Ellis for his effort and hard work - well done Ellis!
