Year 4M 2019 - 2020

Welcome to the Year 4G page.

We hope you enjoy reading this and will update it regularly for you!

Mr Graham and Mrs Shaw

On Thursday 24th January at 2:40pm we will be presenting for you our class assembly.  The children have been sent home with their lines to learn this weekend and are very excited to show you what we have been learning.  We hope as many of you as possible are able to make it on Thursday!

Key information for Year 4.

Reading books must be in school daily with your reading record.  We have issued you with new reading books which are appropriate to your reading level - these must be signed off by a parent/guardian to be able to change it when you have finished. It is expected that the children read at least three times per week and have their reading diaries signed by a parent/guardian. Each day children bring their reading record into school signed by an adult, they can move one brick up the yellow brick road towards the Emerald City - there will be rewards for all children who reach the Emerald City every half term.

Homework is given on a Friday and needs to be returned by the following Wednesday. If it is not returned by Wednesday, children will attend homework club on Wednesday lunchtime to complete it.  I am always available on Monday or Tuesday lunchtimes to help any child who is finding their homework difficult.

Our PE days are Wednesday afternoon (outdoor) and Friday afternoon (indoor). Please remember that your full PE kit must be in school:- white t-shirt, red shorts and black school pumps or trainers - joggers or tracksuit trousers and sweat tops may be worn for outdoor PE. Remember not to wear earrings on these days please.

Simms Cross Superstars

Each week one child from our class is chosen to be a Simms Cross Superstar and receive a postcard in our Friday Celebration Assembly.

Will it be you this week?

This week's winner was Lilly for her continued hard work in her presentation in her books, especially her English work.  Last week, Maisie was awarded the postcard for her great letters from the Hall of the Mountain King. Well done girls!

Golden Tie Award

Each week a child will be chosen whom we consider to be going 'Above and Beyond' in their learning and behaviour. They will wear a golden tie all week and go home in this tie to share their success with parents.

What will you do this week to make sure that it is you?

Last week's winner was Bailey for his efforts in his English work, while the first golden tie of the year was awarded to Jessica as a reward for her hard work throughout the Autumn term.  Well done to both of you!

Times Tables

In June 2020, we will be taking part in the times tables assessments.  Please ensure your child is practicing their times regularly at home up to 12 x 12. I have given each child a copy of a times table book to help with their home learning.

There will be a meeting in January to provide more information about the times tables assessments.
